ParkinSong 2010

On a beautiful fall night, over 100 supporters gathered for an intimate evening of music featuring legendary troubadour, Steve Forbert. The concert was held in the home of Parkinsong co-founders, Carol and Andrew Golden on Saturday, October 30, 2010 and benefited The Parkinson Alliance. 100% of net proceeds will go directly to Parkinson’s research. The generous support of this event raised close to $18,000.

Friends and family had a chance to visit over a glass of wine and then were treated to a surprise performance by Ana Egge. Ana has performed at all the Parkinsong events. This was followed by an outstanding concert by Steve Forbert featuring songs about the triumphs, struggles, pain, frustration, and joy of modern life.

Congressman Rush Holt attended the concert and addressed the audience. We appreciate his ongoing support of the Parkinson’s community. The concert was followed by a dessert reception with time to linger with family and friends and peruse the selection of available CDs by Ana Egge, Steve Forbert and the Parkinsong collection.

Parkinsong 2010 is made possible by a generous grant from Warren Hellman and the Hellman Family Foundation.

The Parkinson Alliance is grateful to Parkinsong and the Golden/Frank/Litowitz families for their continued commitment to supporting Parkinson’s research.

About ParkinSong

ParkinSong is an independent non-profit organization founded by the children of Selma Litowitz, a Parkinson's disease sufferer and is dedicated to raising awareness for Parkinson's disease research.  Successful concerts hosted by Comedy Central's Jon Stewart and legendary Philadelphia DJ Pierre Robert led to the release of 38 Songs of Hope, a CD compilation featuring Bonnie Raitt, Crosby & Nash, and a who's who of Americana artists including Alejandro Escovedo, Neko Case and Dave Alvin.  Following the NPR-acclaimed compilation, came ParkinSong 3, a concert at the College of New Jersey featuring Kelly Willis, Chuck Prophet, Ana Egge and Sara Hickman. Inspired by its slogan "Music Is Hope," Parkinsong is proud to work with incredible artists in supporting Parkinson’s disease research.
