Participants Invited to Take Survey on Swallowing and Parkinsonís Disease

(March 13, 2017)—The Parkinson Alliance invites people living with Parkinson’s disease (PD) to participate in our survey-based research project entitled “Swallowing and Parkinson’s Disease.”  Swallowing and eating difficulties are common for individuals with PD, particularly as PD progresses. Swallowing and eating difficulties can impact feelings of safety, social relationships, and quality of life.  Understanding the experience pertaining to swallowing difficulties and effective assessments and treatments from the patient’s perspective is of great importance. Thus, the objective of the present study is to deepen our understanding about swallowing difficulties from the perspective of PWP.  If you have Parkinson's disease, you are eligible to take our survey which is now accessible online at DBS4PD.org

There are two ways to complete the survey on Swallowing:
•    Online at DBS4PD.org
•    Request a hard copy by calling The Parkinson Alliance at (800) 579-8440

When individuals with PD participate in this survey, their "voice" will be heard and their participation can help others with PD, carers as well as treatment providers.  Participation is completely voluntary and all information provided by survey participants will be kept strictly confidential.

The data collection for this report will conclude on June 15, 2017; and participants are urged to complete the survey as soon as possible.

To participate in this important research endeavor, individuals can visit DBS4PD.org and complete a survey online.
